SIBU: A bus driver and two passengers had a close shave this morning – they escaped from being burned alive after the bus they were on, burst into flames.
The incident happened at Jalan Rantau Panjang here at 8.45am today (April 2).
A spokesman for the State Fire Department operations centre said firemen from Sungai Merah were despatched to the scene but when they arrived at the scene they were met with the skeletal remains of the bus.
The bus driver and two passengers managed to get out to safety.
“The bus driver claimed that the fire started from the engine compartment and spread to the rest of the vehicle,” the spokesman said.
In Simunjan, a paddy storehouse in Kampung Sungai Apin, Simunjan, was razed to the ground around 11.45am today.

No casualties were reported.
And in Miri, some generators and oil tanks caught fire at Jalan Desa Senadin around 7.55am.
The fire, believed to have started from welding works, was put out by firemen from Lopeng fire station.
