SERIAN: A local driver died of severe injuries while, his passenger was injured following a fatal accident along Mile 29, Jalan Kuching-Serian this morning.
It is believed that the car they were in skidded and crashed into the road divider around 12.40 am.
Firefighters from Serian station along with the police and paramedics were dispatched to the scene, about 18km away, after receiving a distress call.
Upon arrival, they found that the driver pinned to his seat and extrication works were performed to free him from the wrecked vehicle.
The victim, identified as 35-year-old Febrian Decster Thomas, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. His body was handed over to the police to be taken to Serian Hospital for a post-mortem.
Meanwhile, the other victim, the passenger whose identity is not known, was rescued out of the car by the public and taken to the hospital before rescuers arrived.
