KUCHING: A driver thanked his lucky stars that he escaped with his life after his car went down a deep monsoon drain along Jalan Ling Kai Cheng in Sibu yesterday.
The 33-year-old driver from Kampung Hilir was driving alone when his car went out of control and it went into the drain that was full of water.
Fortunately, he was able to get out of the car quickly and then sat on the roadside dazed.
Passers-by helped called the Fire and Rescue Department for help and firemen into the drain to check if anybody else was trapped inside the car.
The driver who sustained minor injuries was sent to Sibu hospital for a check-up.
