KUCHING: A driver managed to save himself from a scorching death after his car suddenly caught fire at the Metrocity traffic light intersection, Jalan Matang today.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Petra Jaya station were promptly despatched to the scene after receiving a distressed call around 2.50 pm.
On arrival, they found that the car was beyond saving and the extinguishing deed was performed.
No injuries or casualties were reported during the incident.
The actual cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.
After ensuring that the situation was safe, the team wrapped up the operation at 3.20 pm and headed back to their station.
