SRI AMAN: Police have issued a traffic summon against a man who committed a traffic offense by dangerously entering the main road along KM25, Jalan Sri Aman-Betong last Saturday.
The incident came to light when police reviewed dashcam footage showing a Perodua Kancil exiting a junction and recklessly entering the fast lane. It went viral on Facebook.
The Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department reported that the post garnered negative comments, condemning the driver’s actions that could have jeopardised the safety of other road users.
On the following day (Aug 13), around 9.50 am, a police officer from the Sri Aman traffic police visited the driver’s residence to assist in the investigation.
“Investigation found that the driver admitted his recklessness in driving after exiting a junction,” said the department.
As a result, a traffic summons was issued under Rule 8(1) of the Traffic Rules 166/59 for failure to maintain the correct lane when entering the main road.
