MIRI: An accident claimed the life of a 29-year-old man after he lost control of his vehicle and collided with a metal divider at Jalan Pan Borneo, near the Beluru junction at Ladang Sawit No.4, on Saturday.
Miri Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said that it occurred at 4 pm as the victim was travelling from Niah to Beluru.
Initial investigations found that the victim lost control of his Perodua Bezza, resulting in a collision with the divider.
The impact was severe enough to eject the victim from his car, causing him to fly through the air and crashing onto the road.
Emergency medical personnel from the Batu Niah Health Clinic pronounced the driver dead at the scene.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
