TATAU: A 53-year-old driver died on the spot following a fatal collision along Jalan Simpang Pasar Lama this morning.
The accident involving a Proton Wira and an oil palm tanker happened around 11.40 am.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the victim is identified as Ling Lee Chuen.
Firemen from Tatau station along with the police and paramedics were despatched to the scene after being alerted to the accident.
On arrival, they found the driver pinned to his seat and began extricating the victim.
The unconscious victim, who sustained head injuries, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics and his body was handed over to the police for further action.
Meanwhile, the tanker driver escaped injuries.
