SARIKEI: A driver and his elderly passenger were injured after their car collided head-on with a trailer truck along KM15, Jalan Bulat last night (Jan 9).
The accident, involving two vehicles travelling in the opposite direction, happened around 7 pm.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Sarikei station were dispatched to the scene following a distress call at 7.08 pm.
The driver of the car, aged 37, was trapped in his seat and firemen had to extricate him.
Once freed, the victim was handed over to the paramedics to be taken to the hospital for further medical treatment.
Meanwhile, the front seat passenger, an elderly man in his 70s, was earlier rescued by passers-by and was taken to the hospital for further treatment.
The extent of their injuries is not known.
As for the trailer truck driver and his attendant, both of them escaped injuries.
