KUCHING: A man was trapped in the driver’s seat of a Perodua Kancil car after being involved in a three-vehicle collision with a lorry and a Perodua Viva on Jalan Stephen Yong, Batu Kawa here on Thursday.
The Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA) received an emergency call at 4.11 pm regarding the incident which prompted a team from the Batu Lintang station to be dispatched to the scene.
Utilising a stretcher, firefighters successfully freed the victim through the rear passenger door and subsequently transferred him to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) using an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle.
Meanwhile the occupants of the lorry and Perodua Viva were unharmed.
In a similar development, a driver cheated death when the four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle he drove fell into a ditch at the Kelupu-Bintangor Road.
According to reports by BOMBA, they received a call at 8.22 pm regarding the accident and subsequently dispatched a team from the Bintangor station to the scene.
“Upon arrival at the location, it was found that a black Toyota Hilux vehicle was found in a ditch.
“The victim had been extricated by bystanders earlier and did not sustain any injuries.
Firefighters conducted a size-up to ensure no further hazards at the location. After confirming safety, they returned to the station.
