KUCHING: The state’s reported daily Covid-19 infections has dropped to 1,189 cases on Monday (Oct 4), a notable decrease compared to Sunday’s 1,418 cases.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the cumulative number of reported cases in the state now stood at 216,765.

It said 1,174 of the new cases fell into categories 1 and 2, while 15 cases were categories 3, 4 and 5.

“Of the total, 371 or 31.2 percent of the cases were in Category 1, 803 or 67,54 percent were in Category 2, three cases or 0.25 percent in Category 3, 5 cases or 0.42 percent in Category 4 and seven cases or 0.59 percent in Category 5,” it said in its daily Covid-19 update on Monday.

The committee said Kuching once again recorded the highest number of daily cases in the state with 272 infections registered, followed by Miri with 205, Sibu with 109 and Sarikei with 107 cases.

“Limbang recorded 89 new cases, Samarahan (75), Bintulu (47), Kanowith (31), Bau (31), Mukah (29), Sri Aman (27), Asajaya (26), Subis (20), Lawas (17), Serian (13), Meradong (13) and Pakan (12).

“While only single-digit cases were registered in Betong, Kapit, Beluru, Selangau, Lundu, Simunjan, Kabong, Julau, Lubok Antu, Sebauh, Pusa, Belaga, Tanjung Manis, Saratok, Telang Usan, Marudi, Matu and Tatau,” it added.
