Drug abuser fined for breaking his mother’s glass door

KUCHING: A drug abuser was sentenced to a fine of RM4,000 in default six months’ imprisonment by the Magistrate’s Court here, today, for breaking the glass door of his mother’s house resulting in a loss of RM500.

Mohd Akmal Ibrahim, 28, pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 427 of the Penal Code which was read before Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali.

According to the charges, he committed the offence at his family’s residence in Kampung Bintawa Tengah, at about 11.50 am, on Aug 20, this year.

If convicted, Mohd Akhmal can be punished with imprisonment of not less than one year and not more than five years or a fine or both.

Based on the facts of the case, during the incident, the complainant, the accused’s mother, found her son in a rage inside the house and breaking the glass door.

Further investigations revealed that the cause of the incident was because the accused was under the influence of drugs and was in a delusional state pacing around the house while holding a knife which was later seized by the complainant.

Fearful for the family’s safety, the complainant lodged a police report for further investigations to be made which led to the arrest of the accused the following day.

Inspector Mohd Adzmei Mohd prosecuted the case while the accused was unrepresented by a legal counsel.
