KUCHING: Police arrested an Indonesian who was peddling drugs in Betong district on Sunday afternoon.
Sarawak Narcotics CID chief Supt Hasnir Abdul Hamid said the man was behaving suspiciously at Semumok Betong and upon checking, police found 29 transparent plastic straws containing what was suspected to be syabu.
The unemployed suspect, who said he was married, was detained in Betong police station for further investigation.
He is to be charged under Section 39A (1) of Dangerous Drug Act 1952 and if convicted, he can be jailed for a term of not less than 2 years but not more than 5 years and whipped not more than 9 strokes.
