KUCHING: An unemployed man from Paku along the Kuching-Bau Road, returned to his old ways as he was found peddling drugs.
Bau police chief DSP Pogel Nyaon confirmed that on May 3, at about 10.40 am, police raided an unnumbered house at Jalan Simpang Buan Buso, Bau where they found a man in the house and after checking, police found a transparent plastic packet containing crystalline powder believed to be syabu weighting 0.79 grammes. The drug is worth RM100.
The suspect was arrested and detained under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1952 and for taking drugs under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act,1952.
If convicted for peddling, he can be jailed for up to five years and fined RM100,000.
For drugs taking charge under Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1952, the man is liable to a fine of up to RM5,000 or jail term of not more than two years.
The suspect is being detained for further questioning.
He has a previous conviction for drug abuse.
