SIBU: A gang called ‘Geng Apoi’ from Sungai Merah, known to be actively involved in drugs, was busted on Sunday (Dec 6).

This was after six of its members, including two women, were caught in a raid.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail said the raid carried out by Sibu NCID, managed to seize various types of drugs worth RM76,556. Also seized were a vehicle worth RM70,000 and cash amounting to RM6,556, he said.

“All the suspects including a male Chinese national are aged between 18 and 32. Four of them are unemployed while one of the women is self-employed,” he said a press conference today.

He also believed that all of them were members of the ‘Geng Apoi’ syndicate from Sungai Merah.

In a separate raid, Aidi stated that Sibu NCID also confiscated two packages of syabu (1,100g) and marijuana (2,000g) at a courier centre in Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg on Monday afternoon.

It was told that both types of drugs had a market value of RM55,000.

“Both packages have been at the courier company for the past two months. However, the packages have not been claimed by anyone,” he added.
