KUCHING: The Magistrate’s Court here today sentenced a local man to six months in prison for his involvement in drug abuse activities four years ago.
Magistrate Mason Jaro Berayan Lenya sentenced the accused, Hidayat, 33, after he pleaded guilty to the charge under Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 (Act 234).
Hidayat committed the offence in the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division of Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK Sarawak) at around 12:48 pm on March 5, 2019.
The offence carries a maximum fine of RM5,000 or imprisonment for up to two years.
Mason Jaro also ordered the accused to be placed under police supervision for two years after serving the prison sentence.
