SIBU: Narcotics police arrested a local man suspected to be a drug dealer and seized over RM400,000 worth of various drugs yesterday (June 12).

The 21-year-old was picked up during a raid conducted on a rented apartment along Jalan Wong King Howe here around 2.15 am.

Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili told a conference that the team seized various drugs such as ecstasy mixture, ecstasy pills, ecstasy powder and ketamine.

“During the raid, our team discovered 71 ‘Juice Master’ plastic packets containing ecstasy mixture (2.2kg), 1,511 ecstasy pills (566.73g), 43 plastic packets containing crystalline substance believed to be ketamine (273g), and 26 plastic packets containing yellowish pellets and white powder suspected to be ecstasy (25.44kg).

“The drugs with a total weight of 28.58kg and valued around RM402,052, were seized along with a Ford Ranger valued at RM146,000.

“This seizure makes it our second biggest drug bust this year,” he said.

The suspect has been distributing drugs for about six months.

Zulkipli added the drugs were meant to be distributed to patrons of entertainment centres.

“We advise owners of such establishments not to condone such activity in their centres or else legal action will be taken against them,” he said.

Background checks found that the suspect, who tested positive for methamphetamine and benzodiazepines, had three prior records related to drug offences.

The suspect is being remanded for seven days to facilitate investigations under Section 39B and Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
