MIRI: A man suspected of being intoxicated was detained following a collision that injured a pedestrian here on Sunday.
Miri OCPD ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the incident occurred around 1.10 am in front of a hotel along Jalan Miri Pujut, in the Pelita Commercial Centre.
“The suspect, a 57-year-old man, has been taken into custody to assist in our investigation,” said Alexson.
The collision involved the suspect’s Ford Ranger and two other vehicles—a four-wheel-drive and a BMW—that were parked in front of the hotel.
A pedestrian in the vicinity was injured as a result of the collision.
The case is currently under investigation under Section 43 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Footage of the accident scene, showing the injured pedestrian and the damaged vehicles, has been circulated on social media.
