KUCHING: Two men were arrested during an ‘Ops Dadu’ operation for their alleged involvement in illegal online gambling activities in Tapah, Serian and Batu Kawa.
Padawan district police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said a team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested a 19-year-old at an eatery in Tapah Bazaar at 4.45pm.
He added that police also seized a mobile phone and cash amounting to RM208. The suspect also admitted to having conducted the illegal online gambling activities.
Aidil noted that the suspect will be remanded to facilitate investigation.
On the same development, a second man, 36, was detained at a phone shop at 6.30pm at Desa Wira Commercial Centre, for the same offence.
“The raid resulted in seizure of cash amounting to RM237 and two pieces of paper believe to be betting slips,” he said when contacted.
He added that the man admitted to being involved in the illegal trade.
