SIBU: Two men aged 25 and 38 have been placed in police custody for possessing a sword. Sibu District police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said about 4.15am on Monday, two policemen on beat duty near a coffee shop in Jalan Salim saw a four-wheel drive vehicle being driven in a suspicious manner.
“They stopped the vehicle, which had two men inside, for inspection. They found a sword under the driver’s seat,” ACP Stanley said.
The men were queried about the sword and they could not give a reason for having it in the vehicle.
The policemen arrested the duo, seized the vehicle and the sword.
The case is being investigated under Section 7 (1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act, 1958.
