MIRI : Two men were detained on Sunday in connection with a pub brawl at Centre Point Commercial Centre which left several individuals injured.
According to Miri OCPD, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, the scuffle broke out between the two suspects aged 23 and 39 years old who were believed to be in a inebriated state inside the entertainment outlet.
Both men started ‘swinging’ glass bottles at each other.
Several patrons of the outlet were injured after they got hit by the flying bottles during the incident.
Upon receiving report on the incident that early Sunday morning, a team of Miri Criminal Investigation department (CID) detained the duo for questioning.
Police are probing the case under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a weapon; the offence which carries a jail term of up to 10 years, a fine or whipping or any two of the punishments, upon conviction.
Alexson advised the public not to resort to violence to resolve conflicts or disputes.
He said the police would not hesitate to take action against any individuals involved in the violent crime.
