PADAWAN: Two men cheated death after their vehicle skidded and plunged into a ravine along Mile 28, Jalan Kuching-Serian yesterday (June 26).

Fortunately, the passenger, who was seated in the front seat, only sustained light injuries while the driver was unhurt in the 3.30 pm accident near Kampung Lintang Baru.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Siburan station who were deployed to the scene found the passenger pinned to his seat in the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).

The scene of the accident where one person was slightly injured.

The driver, however, managed to escape through the broken windscreen.

Extrication works were performed using rescue tools and once the victim was freed, he was handed over to the paramedics.

The victim, who suffered minor head injuries and chest pain, was given initial treatment at the scene before he was taken to Serian Hospital.

The Bomba personnel completed their operation around 4.35 pm.
