Duo fined for causing damage after binge drinking

KUCHING: Two former security guards of a food and services supply company were each fined RM2,000 or spend three months in prison for damaging company property after consuming alcohol on its premises.

Hafiz, 28, and Rostenlin, 24, pleaded guilty to the charges  before Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali.

They stood accused under Section 427 of the Penal Code for intentionally committing mischief by damaging company property, causing a loss of RM250.

The offence took place in the employees’ common room within the company premises in Bintawa, around 8.56 pm on Dec 22 last year.

According to the court, both men, along with two other colleagues, brought alcoholic beverages into the company premises and consumed them in the room.

While under the influence of alcohol, the two men acted aggressively, damaging the company’s property by punching staff lockers, throwing chairs, and kicking the water dispenser.

As a result of the incident, the company incurred losses of about RM250.

A police report was filed, leading to their arrest on Jan 7.

Inspector Ammarsoffi Yusoff prosecuted.
