SIBU: Police arrested a 28-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman for possessing 3,425.9 grams of drugs worth more than RM170,000 at a house in Jalan Keranji, here yesterday (Dec 14).
Sibu district police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the duo was caught during a raid conducted by the commercial crime department at about 5.30 pm.
“Police seized 99 packets bearing the name ‘Juice Master’ suspected to contain ecstasy, weighing about 3,420g. The value is approximately RM171,000.
“Also found were 18 pills of ecstasy weighing about 5.90g worth RM270. The total seizure is estimated to be RM171,270,” he said in a statement today (Dec 15).
The 28-year-old male suspect’s urine subsequently tested positive for methamphetamine while the woman was negative.
“The male suspect has been remanded for seven days while the woman for three days to assist in the investigation,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952 and Section 15 (1) of the same Act.
“Section 39B provides for a death sentence by handing if convicted in court while Section 15(1) carries a fine of RM5,000 and a jail sentence of two years,” he said.
