KUCHING: The Magistrate’s Court has sentenced two men to a year in prison each for illegally entering an empty house owned by a Datuk last month.

Jefry Jamali, 41, and Mohd Shahrulluddin Ahmad Zaidi, 32, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Ling Hui Chuan, facing charges under Section 453 of the Penal Code, together with Section 34 of the same code.

The incident occurred around 1.30pm on July 16 at Jalan Green, where both men trespassed into the residence.

According to case facts, the duo was apprehended by a crime prevention police squad as they suspiciously scaled the fence to access the property, which was unoccupied at the time.

Further investigations confirmed that Jamali and Ahmad Zaidi entered the premises without the owner’s consent.

Inspector Nur Shafiqa Nyaie Ilin prosecuted the case, while both accused were unrepresented.
