SERIAN: Two local men were arrested by police for drug possession today.
Serian district police chief DSP Aswandy Anis said the duo, aged 20 and 32, were flagged down at a five-foot way of a commercial centre in town by narcotics police at about 4pm.
“Following body checks on both suspects, we found a pack of cigarettes in the left pocket of a track bottom worn by one of the suspects.
“On further inspections, we found and seized five translucent plastic packets containing a crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine,” he said.
Aswandy pointed out that the drug which weighed 5.68g had an estimated street value of RM800. It was believed to be for drug addicts in Serian.
“Both suspects from Kampung Sebayor, Kota Samarahan had been brought to the district headquarters for further action,” he said in a statement.
Aswandy also noted that both suspects tested negative for drugs following urine tests.
The case is being investigated under Section 39A of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
