KUCHING: Efforts to develop the food industry and agricultural sector will receive a boost following Sarawak’s decision to collaborate with the Netherlands.

Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom said he is confident the partnership with the Dutch government will be successful as the Netherlands is the second-largest food exporter in the world.

Even though the Netherlands is a small country, it has managed to become one of the world’s leading food exporters, the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) said in a report.

“Therefore, the need to create a task force is important to speed up the implementation of the findings from this the Sarawak-Netherlands Food Safety Workshop.

“This is because any effort or initiative to improve the level of food safety in Sarawak needs to be implemented immediately in line with the aspirations of the Sarawak government through the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030),” he said.
