SIBU: E-hailing Associations have been urged to make good use of the platform to voice their concerns and collectively address challenges prevailing in the industry.
Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Dudong branch chairman Wong Ching Yong said with the establishment of the Sibu E-hailing Association, it is now more advantageous for e-hailing drivers to convey their needs to the government.
“This includes seeking allocations through the association from the elected representatives to promote member welfare and industry development initiatives,” he said.
Wong made these remarks at the inaugural annual general meeting (AGM) of the Sibu E-hailing Association recently.
He hoped that e-hailing drivers can unite under this newly established association and work together to overcome the challenges they face.
The establishment of the Sibu E-hailing Association was a result of the commitment made by Wong during the general election last year.
“At that time, a group of e-hailing drivers had approached me with issues they were facing, and I promised to assist in forming an association regardless of the election outcome,” he said.
Despite not being elected, Wong fulfilled his promise by actively assisting in the establishment of the association.
At the AGM the association picked Peter Goh as its first chairman.
