KUCHING: The Department of Environment (DoE) and the Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) in collaboration with the Sri Aman District Council will organise an Electrical and Electronic Waste (BEE) collection campaign at the Sri Aman Bus Terminal lobby on Aug 28.

According to a statement on Yesterday (Aug 16), the programme aimed to ensure that e-waste is collected and separated to recover useful materials or valuable resources that can contribute to sustainable development and protect the environment. The programme starts from 8am to 4.30pm.

According to DOE, e-waste that is not managed in an environmentally friendly manner can cause serious health and pollution issues because e-waste contains several pollutants or heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, beryllium and many others.

The public are encouraged to bring their household e-waste to the programme because the licensed contractor will buy the goods at a certain price for the purpose of recycling and ensuring environmental sustainability.
