KUCHING: An Electrical and Electronic Waste (BEE) collection campaign will be held at Mayor Swee Guan Park this Sunday (Sept 11).
The campaign, jointly organised by the Department of Environment (DoE) together with Natural Resources and Environment Board, Kuching South City Council (MBKS) and Trienekens will be on from 8:30am to 4:30pm.
Members of the public are encouraged to bring their household e-wastes to the event venue for recycling while getting cash in exchange.
“The campaign is geared towards creating a cleaner and healthier environment for all by encouraging the public to avoid disposing their e-wastes indiscriminately. Such wastes could contain heavy metals such as lead and mercury that can cause health hazards and environmental pollutions,” the organisers said in a statement yesterday.
Among the electrical and electronic wastes that can be brought to the collection venue are old television sets, air conditioner, phone, projector, electrical appliances, washing machine, computer, refrigerator and camera.
