KUCHING: Early activation of the traffic light system at Roundabout 5 along Jalan Setia Raja/Stutong is hoped to ease the traffic flow in the area. This is especially so during the peak hours said Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

However, he said even with the early activation of the traffic light system he urged the public to continue to drive with extra caution.

“The sites along the Kuching-Samarahan Expressway stretch is still under construction,” he said in a statement on yesterday (March 23).

Uggah said that the overall project for the construction of traffic light intersection of five roundabouts along the Kuching-Samarahan Expressway is ahead of schedule by 55 per cent with its contractual completion date scheduled on the January 2024.

“I wish to commend the hard work and commitment of the contractor to complete the task, even during the unprecedented weather over the past couple of weeks.

“Also, to the public, thank you for your continued patience and for adhering to public road safety during the construction process,” he said.

Uggah in the statement also wished all the Muslim, Happy fasting.
