PBB, SUPP distribute CNY cards, oranges, KGC form

KUCHING: The Satok branches of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) and Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) yesterday held a door-to-door distribution of Chinese New Year (CNY) greeting cards and mandarin oranges around Satok.

Satok PBB deputy chief Datuk Ibrahim Baki stated that the two political branches in Satok (PBB and SUPP) had come together in the spirit of unity for the coming of CNY celebration.

“Sarawakians are known to be friendly people so we (Satok PBB and SUPP) want to continue promoting the spirit of unity among Sarawakians irrespective of race and religion.

“This is also to show that we are truly united in this diverse society in line with the achievement of Kuching as ‘City of Unity’. We hope to maintain that,” he said to reporters at the start of the door-to-door distribution at Hong Leong Assurance building in Jalan Rubber here.

Also present were SUPP Satok chairman Goh Leng Yeu, SUPP Satok vice chairman Shankar Ram Asnani, and Satok PBB deputy chairman cum the event’s organising chairman Prof Dr Hamsawi Sani.

Ibrahim further said that apart from distributing mandarin oranges and greeting cards to the Chinese community who will be celebrate Chinese New Year on Jan 25 and 26, the group also distributed the Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) application forms.

“We are distributing the application forms to the people to assist the Ministry of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development.

“We are promoting the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) initiative so that whoever qualifies will not miss the opportunity to enjoy what they deserve,” he continued.

The Kenyalang Gold Card will enable its holders to enjoy special privileges and discounts at partnering outlets in the state.

To apply for the card, an applicant must fulfill the following criteria: Malaysian citizen, MyKad ‘K’ (Sarawak) status holder, Sarawak permanent resident status as well as aged 60 and above on or after Jan 1, 2020.

The application forms are available at Sarawak Social Welfare Department (JKMS) office, Resident’s office or District’s office.
