KOTA SAMARAHAN: An old school building block at SK Kampung Muhibbah, Jalan Tanjung Bako here, was completely engulfed in flames early this morning (June 30).

Firefighters from Kota Samarahan and Tabuan Jaya stations were promptly dispatched to the scene, about 28km away, after receiving a distress call at 1.18 am.

Upon arrival, they found that the block, measuring 174 x 36 square feet, was already destroyed. The extinguishing deed was performed using water sourced from a nearby fire hydrant.

The team managed to put out the flames and prevent them from spreading to another building nearby. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.

Once the situation was deemed safe and there was no risk of reignition, the team ended the operation at 4 am.

The cause of the fire and losses incurred is still under investigation.
