KUCHING: Early voting for the 15th general election (GE15) in Sarawak involving police personnel and their spouses began at 8am today (Nov 15).
Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri said 8,050 police officers, personnel and their spouses, cast their votes at 55 polling stations.
“The Senior Police Officer’s Mess of the Sarawak police contingent headquarters (IPK), which is the polling station for the Petra Jaya parliamentary seat, will see 830 officers, personnel and their spouses casting their votes.
“As of 8.40am, about 82 of them fulfilled their responsibility,” he said after monitoring the early voting process.
The voting process is expected to take place until 5pm today.
Meanwhile, Deputy Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata and Sarawak Crime Prevention and Community Department (JPJKK) chief SAC Lukas Aket cast their votes at 8.35am.
Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate for Petra Jaya Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof also took time off his busy campaign schedule to visit and monitor the early voting process around 8.15am.
A total of 92 candidates are contesting in 31 parliametary seats in Sarawak.
Polling is set for this Saturday (Nov 19).
