SIBU: As 2022 comes to a close and the New Year 2023 chapter will begin, leaders throughout the state wish for a prosperous Sarawak.
They said that the year 2022 was a year where the state struggled to get its grip to stand stronger after the COVID-19 pandemic in its economy,
industries and more.
Hence, with the New Year coming, the leaders wish for the betterment of Sarawak in all sectors
especially its development, with the help of the federal government under the unity government.
The need for more allocations as well as restoring the state’s rights is another highlight of their wishes.
DATUK GERALD RENTAP JABU
Deputy Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Minister
It is in our hope that we, all Sarawakians rise and prosper in the year to come. Pandemic and political challenges have brought our lives and livelihood into unchartered territories. In any calamity, there is always hope especially that we, as Sarawakians, can hold steadfast to our unity in diversity. We will come up on top of all challenges, and God willing we will show the rest of Malaysia we are united.
SAFIEE AHMAD

I hope that the year 2023 will bring more opportunities and progress for our fellow Sarawakians. I would like to also urge all Sarawakians to continue to maintain the beauty of Sarawak which is ‘unity in diversity’ so that future generations can understand the beauty of it. Happy New Year 2023! Jaga Sarawak, Intu Sarawak.
RODIYAH SAPIEE
Batang Sadong MP
The year 2023 will be my first year as an MP for P200 Batang Sadong. There will be several developments in the pipeline. We hope the 2023 federal budget of RM5.4 billion for Sarawak is adequate to enable the kick-start and rapid implementation of the
projects. Our mission, hope, and aspiration in 2023 are to take immediate remedies to these specific grievances of the communities to bring about changes in their socio-economic profiles. With these projects, we see that we are aligned with the state’s aspiration to become a developed state by 2030 where rural development needs to be boosted to narrow the development gap between the urban and rural areas to assist the state in achieving its aspiration.
DATUK ABDULLAH SAIDOL
Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Office (Corporate Affairs, Information and Sarawak Public Communications Unit)
My sincere hope is that my own family, relatives, friends, every person in my constituency, and of course my fellow Sarawakians and Malaysians in general, always be blessed with great health, a peaceful mind and soul to embrace the feeling of togetherness, tolerance and caring. I also hope the new federal government, especially those leaders in the Cabinet will have a big heart to be sincerely committed to taking great care of our nation and working extremely hard towards building prosperity for all its citizens. Let’s work together, all in one, to strengthen our understanding, unity, peace, and harmony.

I hope that the whole range of government
initiatives through Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat and 11 focus areas of Majlis Pembangunan Sosial Sarawak will reach the optimal number of Sarawakians through intensive digitalisation of government services under iSarawakCare. I also hope that our ongoing effort in advocating laws affecting women, children, and people with disabilities, empowering women through entrepreneurship and leadership can achieve its desired target. Intensification of holistic preparation for an ageing state by 2028 not only by our ministry but also by other related ministries, departments, private sectors, and members in the communities. Through these areas of focus, my ministry hopes that Sarawak will achieve sustainable high social well-being, equity, inclusivity, and a dignified existence for all.
