Earthquake in neighbouring country, no tsunami threat to Malaysia

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) reported a moderate earthquake in Java, Indonesia at 8:57pm last night (June 30).

The 5.8 magnitude earthquake occurred at a depth of 103 kilometres at coordinates 8.6 degrees south, 110.0 degrees east, approximately 96 kilometres southwest of Yogyakarta.

No tsunami threat to Malaysia has been issued following the earthquake.
