KUCHING: The Election Commission (EC) has sent out 73 postal ballots to eligible voters for the upcoming Jepak by-election.
The postal ballots consist of seventy (70) Category 1A (Election Officers and Police personnel), one (1) postal ballot for Category 1B (Malaysian citizens residing overseas), and two (2) Category 1C (Agencies and Organizations).
“All police personnel involved in the by-election have been issued postal ballots. Therefore, no early voting centre will be opened on October 31 (Tuesday),” EC said in a statement.
The process of issuing postal ballots was carried out with the presence of postal voting agents from the contesting candidates.
“Voters are also reminded to maintain the confidentiality of their votes by not taking pictures of postal ballots and sharing them on social media,” it added.
On another note, EC stated that the it has appointed the hours mentioned in column (7) of the Schedule to be the hours during which the polling will be opened at each centre on the polling day (November 4) for the Jepak by-election.
