MIRI: The Kayan women in the northern region now have a new platform to market their own products with the establishment of the Doh Kayan Telang Usan (DKTU) EcoMart.
The DKTU EcoMart is located within Miri Times Square building; selling a wide range of local products from the traditional Kayan community.
The soft launching of the EcoMart was done by Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau on Saturday at a leading hotel here.
He also declared opened the DKTU Triennial General Meeting (TGM).
“We believe that this newly established EcoMart would help to strengthen our women entrepreneurs,” Dennis opined.
He added it would also create more opportunities amongst the Kayan women.
Dennis also reminded the Kayan community to stand united and avoid being divided
“A divided community does not bring any good.” he pointed out.
Dennis also pledged to allocate RM20,000 to the DKTU — previously he donated RM10,000.
He then presented certificates of appreciation to DKTU members who made 2,500 personal protection equipment (PPE) to frontliners statewide in their fight against Covid-19.
Also present were political secretary to the chief minister Charles Balan Seling and DKTU chairlady Temenggong Elizabeth Deng along with 50 members.
