KUALA LUMPUR: The 6th Asia Economic & Entrepreneurship Summit, an annual event, successfully took place yesterday at the Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur.

Organised by the KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific, the Pacific Basin Economic Council, the ASEAN Economic Club, and the China Daily Asia Pacific, the summit brought together government officials, business leaders, and thought leaders to address critical strategic challenges impacting Asia.

According to the press release issued yesterday, president for KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific Tan Sri Michael Yeoh stated that the pivot towards digitalisation and green growth emerged as a strategic challenge for Asia. However, it also presented new opportunities for the region.

“With this in mind, the summit aimed to address the uncertainties and dangers faced by Asia while exploring ways to leverage digital, green, and innovation-led growth to drive economic prosperity,” he said.

The summit commenced with welcome speeches by distinguished figures, including president of the KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific and chairman of the ASEAN Economic Club, Tan Sri Michael Yeoh; publisher and editor-in-chief of China Daily Group, Qu Yingpu; and chief executive officer of the Pacific Basin Economic Council, Michael Walsh. They shared their insights, emphasising the importance of collaboration and leadership in navigating the complex challenges ahead.

The 6th Asia Economic & Entrepreneurship Summit successfully featured two engaging sessions titled “The Green Reset: Future Ready Asia,” which focused on addressing pressing issues and opportunities for sustainable development in Asia, including geostrategic and global political challenges and shifts towards digital, green, and innovation-led growth.

The second session, “Entrepreneurial and Business Leadership for a New Era,” explored the essential role of entrepreneurship and effective leadership in navigating the changing business and economic landscape.

The summit, graced by president of the Senate Tan Sri Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, was also attended by around 200 delegates, including industry experts, government officials, business leaders, and thought leaders.

“Their active participation and insightful contributions led to a vibrant and productive exchange of ideas, fostering innovative solutions to the challenges facing Asia.”

“This summit played a pivotal role in empowering Asia’s economic resilience and preparing the region for a prosperous future,” he said.

During the summit, Wan Junaidi was also conferred the 2023 Asia Pacific Distinguished Leader Lifetime Achievement Award from KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific.

An essential highlight of the summit was the presentation of the Asia Pacific Excellence Entrepreneurs Awards, recognising outstanding entrepreneurs for their exceptional contributions to the region’s economic growth.
