KUCHING: Economic recovery has been achieved as a result of the state government’s proactive policies and measures to stimulate domestic economic activities.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said these achievements will come to naught if the state has an unstable political environment.
“That is why the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government will continue to play a crucial role in building a coalition that will ensure political stability and prosperity for all Malaysians while also getting a fair deal for Sarawak.
“It is important that when the rakyat and state government are united our society becomes cohesive, and our state emerges stronger. We have strategically charted our course towards a high income-economy by 2030 through the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
“This can only be achieved through great teamwork, collaboration and partnership among all strata of society,” he said.
He said this when tabling the Supply (2023) Bill at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting on Monday (Nov 21).
Abang Johari stated that it is his goal that the 2023 State Budget will get the people working, doing business, to make life better.
He said Sarawakians have overwhelmingly endorsed and supported the state government’s commitment by giving a strong mandate in both the state and recently concluded general election.
“In a nutshell, the 2030 State Budget is a strategic, comprehensive, and integrated roadmap to position for the future. While the way forward may not be easy, I am confident we can overcome them using our wisdom and relying on the solidarity and tenacity of our people.
“So, let us build a better Sarawak for everyone and give hope to our people. With an indomitable spirit and vigour, I believe Sarawak will surmount whatever challenges coming our way,” he added.
