KUCHING: Drug addiction threatens not only individuals but entire families and communities, said Batu Kitang assemblyman Datuk Lo Khere Chiang.

He therefore stressed the critical role of education and community involvement in the ongoing fight against drug abuse.

“Prevention is better than cure, and education is our most powerful weapon in this fight,” he said at the Anti Drug Digital Infohunt, co-organised by the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) Kuching and Skuad Antidadah Kuching at Kampung Semeba, here on Oct 19.

The Antidrug Digital Infohunt serves as an innovative platform to engage participants in learning about drug prevention through interactive digital activities.

The event which attracted 40 youths from Kampung Semeba, Kampung Sudat, Kampung Tematu and Kampung Bumbok, highlighted the importance of leveraging digital tools to raise awareness about the dangers of drug addiction.

“This event is a creative approach to spreading awareness, with initiatives that extend the message beyond those present to reach online communities as well,” he said.

Lo emphasised that prevention is a shared responsibility and called on participants to take the knowledge they gain back to their families and communities.

“You are the ambassadors of this message. I encourage the public who are passionate about supporting the fight against drug abuse to volunteer with the movement.

“Those interested in becoming Antidadah Volunteers are welcome to register on the Skuad Antidadah website at skuad.aadk.gov.my.

“Together, we can make a difference, one conversation, one shared experience, and one community at a time,” he said.
