MIRI: The Jelajah Pendidkan Bumiputera (JPB) roadshow is aiming to get more than 10,000 Bumiputera school leavers in the State in the effort to enhance their level of education. The roadshow was held in Sarawak for the first time this year. Unlike in previous years where it was only available to Bumiputeras, this year (2018) the programme is now available to all races in the State.
At the launching of the programme at the Miri Civic centre here on Tuesday, SUPP secretary-general Datuk Sebastian Ting said it would bring opportunities for everyone. “It is the duty of the government to take care of everyone regardless of race or religion,” he said.
This year, JPB’s goal is to be able to attract 70,000 students nationwide. “The federal government is expected to invest more money in Sarawak this year, especially with JPB going to Sarawak for the first time,” explained Ting. With the objectives of ‘Mencari, Mengenal, Membantu (Find, Recognise and Help), the programme will allow youths in Miri a second chance to be able to shine and give back to their community.
