SRI AMAN:  The District Office recently spearheaded a series of initiatives aimed at raising awareness about substance abuse prevention and extending aid for Ramadan within the community.

Under the One Stop Committee (OSC) Addressing Substance Abuse (MIDS), these programmes sought to address pressing issues while fostering a spirit of community engagement and support.

The highlight of these efforts was the ‘Bubur Pedas Distribution Programme’ and the Walking Message Ramadan event, held within the premises of the Sri Aman District Office.

The primary objective of these programmes was to enhance public awareness on the perils of substance abuse and the significance of early prevention measures.

Commencing at 2  pm, the day’s activities kicked off with an outreach session, jointly organised with the Sri Aman Department of Social Welfare and the Sri Aman District Anti-Drug Agency.

This outreach initiative ventured into Kampung Muhibbah, where representatives provided support and donations in line with the Ramadan festivities.

Following this, at 2.45 pm a poignant moment unfolded as the Sri Aman District Officer and OSC MIDS chairperson Shariff Bujang led the distribution of Ramadan aid to 10 deserving recipients.

Notably, this aid distribution session focused on individuals under the care of the Sri Aman District Anti-Drug Agency, highlighting the community’s commitment to support individuals on the path to recovery.

A significant component of the day’s agenda was the Ramadan Reminder session, commencing at 3 pm at the surau within the Sri Aman District Office premises.

Attended by 50 individuals under the care of the Sri Aman District Anti-Drug Agency, the session provided a platform to reflect on the spiritual significance of Ramadan and foster a sense of solidarity within the community.

As the day progressed, the atmosphere brimmed with camaraderie and support as the  Bubur Pedas Distribution and Walking Message event unfolded at 4 pm.

Recipients included various agencies, community leaders, and members of the public, showing that the collective effort to promote awareness and support initiatives aimed at combating substance abuse within the Sri Aman community.
