KUCHING: Eid al-Fitr not only symbolises the culmination of a month of fasting, prayer, and reflection but also embodies the spirit of unity, compassion, and gratitude.
However, this year’s Eid holds a special significance for a wave of new converts to Islam, embarking on their inaugural journey of celebrating this cherished holiday.
For them, this Eid marks not only the conclusion of their first Ramadan but also the beginning of a profound spiritual journey.
Moreover, as Aidilfitri approaches, it also serves as a poignant reminder for those who have long since converted to Islam.
For them, this annual celebration is not just a time of joyous festivity but also a moment of reflection and gratitude for the path they have chosen.
Their journey towards Islam may have begun years ago, yet the arrival of Eid al-Fitr continues to reignite their sense of devotion and connection to their faith.
The New Sarawak Tribune met with some of the converts to share what they are looking forward to and highlights of the Eid this year.

I am looking forward to sharing festive meals and the festivity with my newfound Muslim family. For my first Eid, we especially put in our effort to bake biscuits and cakes for it.
