KUCHING: Eight suspects were arrested for offences committed throughout the campaign period.
Sarawak police commissioner Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri said that throughout the campaign period from Nov 5 to 18, police received 72 reports and opened 25 investigation papers.
Cumulatively, a total of 3,108 permits were issued statewide for the campaign period.
“We hope that voters and party members follow the law and standard operating procedures (SOP) that were set so that the general election process can run smoothly,” he said when met by the media at SK Merpati Jepang today (Nov19).
He assured that the situation in all 31 parliamentary constituencies in Sarawak is under control.
Meanwhile, police will open three investigation papers for complaints against destruction of banners,
“Three summonses were issued last night in Sarikei. We will open investigation papers under the Election Offences Act,” he said.
“We will open investigation papers under the Election Offences Act for incidents that happened last night in Sarikei,” he said.
