MIRI: A quiet Sunday afternoon turned into a terrifying ordeal for a family of eight in Kampung Lereng Bukit, Jalan Pujut, here when a fire engulfed their home, reducing it to ashes.
The incident occurred just after 2 pm, but fortunately, all the eight occupants managed to escape unharmed.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) quickly responded to the emergency, with teams from both the Miri Sentral and Lopeng Fire Stations rushing to the scene immediately after receiving the distress call at 2.10 pm.
By the time firefighters arrived, the flames had already consumed the house.
However, they swiftly set up a 400-foot water hose from the nearest hydrant, working tirelessly to extinguish the blaze.
Despite their efforts, the house was completely destroyed.
The operation concluded at 3.15 pm, with no injuries reported.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
