KUCHING: An eight-foot long crocodile which wandered into a residential area and was captured by the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) at Kampung Sri Maimunah, Sungai Apong yesterday (Dec 21), has a new and safe home at the Samunsam Wildlife Sanctuary.
SFC said its Swift Wildlife Action Team (SWAT) caught the 90kg reptile following a complaint from the residents.
“The reptile was trapped in a cage that was installed by the SWAT on Dec 20.
“It been transferred to the Samunsam Wildlife Sanctuary later in the afternoon,” the corporation said in a press statement.
Meanwhile, SFC reminded the public not to throw away food waste into the river as it could attract crocodiles.
The corporation also advised the public to be vigilant when out fishing or carrying out riverine activities.
