A total of eight recipients of Special Aid for Kidney Patients (BPBP) from the Sibu division have been approved for this year, said Deputy Minister of Community Welfare, Mohammad Razi Sitam.
He said that the extension of assistance for Sibu patients are amounting to about RM199,460.
“Patients who have been approved for assistance are undergoing dialysis treatment at the following treatment centres namely St John Ambulance Foundation, Rejang Medical Centre and Sibu Kidney Foundation,” he said.
He said this when responding to Dudong assemblyman Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing’s questions during the fourth day of the 19th State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting yesterday.
He also said that the allocation has been approved by the State Government Council Meeting (MMKN) and payment will be channelled to non-government organisation (NGO) or private treatment centres.
“Since this assistance was introduced in 2020 until October 31, 2022, a total of 21 kidney patients have been assisted in Sibu Division with a total expenditure of RM372,792.
“And for this year a total of 98 patients statewide have been helped with a total expenditure of RM2,191,436,” he told.
