BEIRUT: Eight people have been killed and some 2,750 injured in suspected coordinated explosions of hand-held telecommunications devices across Lebanon, reported German Press Agency (dpa), quoting Health Minister Firas Abiad.

Sputnik also reported, quoting media, that hospitals in Beirut, Saida and Tyre are overflowing with the injured.

Earlier in the day, the Lebanese national news agency NNA reported that dozens of people were injured as a result of the detonation of pagers in the southern outskirts of Beirut. – BERNAMA-dpa
