Eight made homeless in afternoon blaze

PUSA: A family of eight were made homeless after an afternoon blaze devoured their house in Lorong Nipah 26C, Kampung Hulu Tambak on Saturday (Mar 4).

Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the 3.05 pm blaze.

All of the tenants including four children, managed to get out to safety before the situation worsened.

A spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Betong station were promptly despatched to the scene after being alerted.

By the time they arrived, the house was beyond saving and the extinguishing deed was performed.

After ensuring the situation was safe, the team wrapped up the operation around 4.10 pm and headed back to their station.

The cause of the fire and losses incurred is still under investigation.
