THE ninth Sarawak Hornbill Tourism Awards (SHTA) will be held on Sept 27 at Hikmah Exchange.
Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said it will feature eight main awards categories with 30 sub-categories.
This is alongside new categories introduced to reflect the commitment to recognise and celebrate excellence across all aspects of the tourism industry.
“The new categories include Spa and Wellness, Education and Medical Tourism, Sarawak-Malaysia My Second Home (S-MM2H), as well as featuring Best Community Based Tourism Initiative and Special Award for Sustainability,” he said his ministerial winding-up speech today.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will be the guest of honour during the awards ceremony.
Abdul Karim said the award categories will be judged by a panel of 45 judges representing a combination of private and public sectors.
“A total of 237 nominations have been received and the winners of the ninth SHTA will receive prize money, trophy, media recognition, and certificate,” he said.
